Upcoming Event: From Gratitude to Action: Embracing the HTCI Week of Giving

"The gift derived from Goodness is given to one who does nothing in return, in a proper place, at a proper time, and to a worthy person." — Bhagavad Gita 17.20 Last week, we came together to celebrate Thanksgiving—a time to reflect on our blessings. This week, we invite our community to turn that gratitude into action. Welcome to the HTCI Week of Giving. Why a Week of Giving? The Hindu Temple of Central Indiana is more than just a building of brick and mortar; it is the spiritual heart of our community. It is where our children learn their first shlokas in Balagokulam, where we celebrate the vibrancy of our festivals, and where we find peace in the presence of the Divine. To keep this flame of Dharma burning bright, we rely entirely on the generosity of devotees like you. The "Week of Giving" is a focused effort to support the temple’s operations, maintenance, and future growth as we close out the year. The Power of Daan (Charity) In Sanatana Dharma, Daan (charity) is not viewed as a transaction, but as a spiritual practice. It is an opportunity to detach from material attachment and support the greater good. When you give to the temple, you are not just making a donation; you are making an investment in: Our Culture: Preserving traditions for the next generation. Our Facilities: Maintaining a clean, safe, and beautiful space for worship. Our Community: Supporting educational programs, cultural events, and humanitarian outreach. How You Can Participate This week, we have a goal to raise $[Insert Amount] to support [Insert Specific Cause, e.g., winter maintenance / mortgage reduction / general fund]. Here is how you can make a difference: Make a One-Time Donation: Every dollar counts. Visit [Insert Donation Link Here] to give securely online. Become a Monthly Sustainer: Small, recurring donations provide the steady support we need to plan for the future. Corporate Matching: Many employers in Indiana will match your charitable donations. Check with your HR department to see if you can double your impact! Volunteer Your Time: Seva is a form of giving, too. Sign up to help with upcoming winter events. Let’s Build Together We have accomplished so much together as a community, but there is still much to do. Whether you can give a little or a lot, your contribution ensures that HTCI remains a sanctuary of peace and devotion for all. Thank you for your continued faith, support, and generosity. Gratitude, Grace, and Community: Thanksgiving at HTCI

As the autumn leaves turn golden and the air grows crisp here in Central Indiana, we approach a day dedicated to one of the most beautiful human emotions: Gratitude. Thanksgiving is a time to pause in our busy lives, reflect on our many blessings, and appreciate the abundance that surrounds us—our families, our health, our community, and our faith. The Spirit of Gratitude in Sanatana Dharma In our tradition, the concept of gratitude (Kritajnata) is deeply ingrained. Every prayer we offer, from the morning Suprabhatam to the evening Aarti, is a form of thanksgiving to the Divine for sustaining us. This national holiday offers us a wonderful opportunity to blend our spiritual values with the spirit of the land we call home. It is a day to thank God not just for the food on our tables, but for the nourishment of our souls. Special Thanksgiving Day Hours To help you start this day of gratitude on a spiritual note, the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana (HTCI) is pleased to announce special extended hours. We understand that many of you will be gathering with friends and family, and we wanted to ensure the temple is open for you to seek blessings on this auspicious day. 📅 Date: Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 28th ⏰ Morning Darshan: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM ⏰ Evening Darshan: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM An Invitation to Worship We warmly invite you and your loved ones to visit the temple. Consider starting your holiday by offering prayers and performing Archana. Seeking the blessings of the Almighty before gathering around the table for your Thanksgiving feast is a perfect way to center yourself in peace and thankfulness. Whether you are coming to light a lamp, sit in quiet meditation, or simply bow before the deities, the temple doors are open to welcome you. From the Board of Trustees, priests, and volunteers at HTCI, we wish everyone a joyous, safe, and blessed Happy Thanksgiving! Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.
